Safest Areas in Austin to Stay When You Visit

Welcome to Austin! We’re excited you are here for a wedding at Rose Haven, and we hope you’ll stay a few days to explore our wonderful area.

Perhaps your wedding has a hotel block, and if so–great! But if you’re on your own for accommodations, many people are concerned with staying in the safest areas in Austin. Fortunately, Austin is a safe area in general. Whether you’re booking a hotel or a vacation rental, you’d probably like to know it’s in a safe neighborhood.

Safest Areas in Austin for Vacation Rentals

Here are a few specific neighborhoods, particularly if you’re considering a vacation rental home. These are great neighborhoods to look into, and some of the safest areas in Austin.

    1. Downtown Austin: Downtown Austin is a vibrant area offering a mix of cultural attractions, dining, and entertainment. It has a violent crime rate 51% below the national average, making it a secure choice for visitors. Austin is very poorly rated for walkability and public transit in general, but downtown does make walkability an option.

    6th Street Safety:

Many people ask about our famous 6th Street in particular, and how safe it is to explore. 6th Street, particularly the section known as “Dirty 6th,” is renowned for its nightlife, attracting both tourists and locals. However, it has experienced incidents of violent crime, including a mass shooting in 2021. The city has since implemented the ‘Safer Sixth Street’ initiative, enhancing lighting, installing more cameras, and establishing a staging area for first responders to improve safety.

    9. Steiner Ranch: Located in west-central Travis County, Steiner Ranch is a planned community known for its family-friendly environment and proximity to outdoor recreational activities, including being on the shores of Lake Travis. It is very isolated as a neighborhood, but offers great amenities and restaurants, including the iconic Steiner Ranch Steakhouse with incredible views of Lake Travis. Hamilton Pool Vineyards and Farm

Hamilton Pool Vineyards and Farm is a family-owned, boutique winery where guests can enjoy hand-crafted wines with a French flair. With a 65 acre slice of heaven, they have camping with RV sites, 2 acres of an Organic Regenerative Farm, full-time Nature Academy, a Farm School, a 10 acre Organic Vineyard and many trails that weave around the wooded property. The land itself has its own calming, peaceful energy and is far enough from city limits to be considered an Official Dark Night Sky so you can stargaze in lush meadows at infinite galaxies above.

    Bell Springs Winery Tasting Room

    Bell Springs Winery

A local favorite, Bell Springs Winery, is where a relaxed atmosphere, live music, and delicious wines await. Bell Springs is open most days and even includes a brewery on-site, so guests can switch things up and enjoy a craft beer as well. On weekends, a full food menu is available, with chef-prepared bites like flash-fried Brussels sprouts and gourmet burgers.

    Parmeson Wines

Also on Bell Springs Road, Parmeson Wines is a boutique winery that showcases elegant wines crafted from Sonoma County grapes. This charming tasting room offers a delightful atmosphere for tasting refined reds, whites, and rosés. Afterwards, take a relaxing art stroll through Dripping Springs Sculpture Gardens. With a unique blend of California expertise and Texas hospitality, Parmeson Wines rounds out the Dripping Springs wine experience.

    Graveyard Vineyards

For a more intimate and relaxed tasting experience, Graveyard Vineyards, on Bell Springs Road just a few doors down from Parmeson, offers small-production wines with big flavors. Named for a historic cemetery on the property, this winery is as unique as it is charming. Guests can enjoy a mix of wines, listen to live music on weekends, and relax on the scenic grounds.

Your guests will love exploring these Hill Country wineries, each offering a unique take on Texas wine and hospitality. From scenic views and family-owned vineyards to exceptional wine and warm welcomes, the wineries around Rose Haven promise an unforgettable experience for you and your loved ones.
